Jesse Davis Guitars
Jesse Davis - Luthier
Hello! My name is Jesse Davis. I've been a professional Classical Guitarist for nearly 20 years. Based in my hometown of Camarillo, California, I play solo guitar and with various ensembles for Wedding Ceremonies, Cocktail parties, you name it! I have also been a full time music instructor for most of those 20 years. In this time I have been highly active in the local classical guitar community and have been exposed to a wide range of players and instruments. When searching for my "one and only" concert classical guitar - I found that no one guitar checked all the boxes for me. Then I got the idea to build it myself.
Some things that are important to me:
Built to last - Heirloom quality
As a player I demand the highest standard of my tools - my guitars must stand up to the abuse of being played hard every day. Constant traveling exposes the instrument to extreme changes in climate, this can make a guitar rip itself apart. I want to build a guitar that will stand up to anything I throw at it. Also when the time comes for any maintenance or repair, the guitar can be completely disassembled and put back together much like violins have been for centuries.
Easy to play
I believe a guitar should be effortless to play. Extremely comfortable for the left and right hand. I can be more musically expressive when I'm not fighting the guitar to do so.
Sounds good
I have a pretty good ear and there are certain qualities of sound that I hear in some guitars in the hands of skilled players. I strive to build guitars that are fully capable of providing that full range of dynamics and tone color, with plenty of volume for a concert classical guitar. Most importantly I want to build a guitar with an attractive voice. The sound of a good guitar should inspire the interpretation of the music being played.
